Long Range Level 1 is an introduction to long-range shooting. This course is open to all experience levels and backgrounds, but students are expected to show up with an understanding of firearms safety and the ability to shoot a scoped rifle. Students will learn about equipment specific to precision shooting, marksmanship fundamentals, ballistics, and environmental factors that affect bullet trajectory.
With the assistance of instructors, students will ensure their rifle is correctly adjusted and that their scope is level. All students must zero or confirm zero with a minimum of 10 rounds and a chronograph. This is not only a safety measure, but important for getting the average muzzle velocity for ballistics computation. Paired in spotter/shooter teams, students will learn how to read wind, spot bullet trace, observe impacts, and efficiently communicate corrections to put rounds on targets out to 1400 meters.
This course builds a solid foundation for understanding long range marksmanship.
